Autumn 2014

*Witamy wszystkich, Hola a todos, Hello Mindenkinek, Failté, Guten Tag, Ciao a tutti, Hello ਹਰ ਕੋਈ, خوش سب کو
Hello to all our children, families, service providers & service users*
We are already well into the Autumn Term and I have not had the opportunity to welcome all our new parents/carers whose children started in the Nursery in September or indeed parents/carers of babies and two year olds who are new to Highfield Nursery School & Children’s Centre.
A very warm welcome to you and also to all our children and families who access services at the School/Centre and are new to us since our last newsletter and last but not least a warm welcome to all of our parents/carers and children who have been attending Nursery Sessions for some time.
Time passes so quickly, it is important that we all take time to reflect on family life, celebrate our successes and build on these during the coming academic year.
Parents/carers and families are the most important influence on children and young people. If you require any support with the challenges you face as a parent/carer or as a family please do come and speak to us.
We are here to help you and your family and the support available covers a wide range of services.
The Nursery Setting is at the heart of our work and we constantly aim to further engage and involve parents/carers in their children’s learning.
With your support we can build on what children already know, understand and can do.
We are committed to supporting and extending children’s development and learning, by offering a play based curriculum.
I hope you find the information in the Newsletter useful and informative.
Alison Hindle – Headteacher/Head of Centre

We are delighted to share with you the results of our Ofsted inspection, which took place on the 8-9 July 2014. The Ofsted Inspector agreed with our own judgement and confirmed that we are OUTSTANDING!
I personally would like to say a BIG THANK YOU to the Children, Parents/Carers, Teachers, Early Years Practitioners, Outreach Practitioners, Senior Leaders, Governors, Volunteers and all our staff at Highfield Nursery School & Children’s Centre, as these are the people who make Highfield Nursery such a special place – an OUTSTANDING place.
The full report is available to all parents/carers on our own website at and also on the Ofsted website. A paper copy is also available on request.
Working with children, parents/carers and families everyone here is committed to ensuring each individual is given the opportunity to develop and make progress in all areas of learning and in life. Every one of us understands how important it is for our children to continue to be interested, excited and motivated in their learning in order to make progress and enjoy learning.
Highfield Nursery School & Children’s Centre is a place where everyone matters. Involving children and families in continued learning and development improves outcomes for individuals giving them opportunities to achieve success in life.
I believe the children and families of ‘Our Highfield Community’ deserve the very best that we can provide. We know we can make a difference and with your support we will continue to provide our children and families with a service that is..‘no less than the best!’.
Once again, thank you, from a delighted Headteacher and Staff.

School Holidays

Throughout holiday periods quality Continuity of Care is available. Numbers are limited and places can be booked through your child's key person. Many services at the School/Centre operate throughout the whole year, please ask for details.

The Rainbow Unit needs any out grown or unwanted items of clothing, especially trousers. Your help will be much appreciated.

Fruity Fridays

Fresh fruit is very good for children because it is a great source of nutrients. It also gives you lots of energy and helps you run faster and jump higher. Don’t forget to encourage your child to collect one free piece of fruit from Reception on Fridays.
